Regardless of genre, I'm seeking inclusive, intersectional voices & gorgeous line-level writing with emotionally compelling narratives. Some of my #MSWL includes:
—Horror that dismantles the gender binary & societal norms
—Occult conspiracies
—Cozy mysteries that center BIPOC/queer characters

Happy #MSWL day!
Some things I'm really excited to see in my inbox this year.
* Queer Stories - bonus points if they're joyful (but they don't have to be)
* Romance - bonus points if they're queer
* Stories highlighting strong female friendships
* Historicals from underrepresented voices

On the hunt for #darkacademia novels, particularly those that are a bit more upmarket and less magical - The Secret History vibes. If you have a crime novel set in a university, boarding school, library - it might be for me. #mswl

Happy #MSWL Day! I only accept agented submissions, but wanted to get into the fun. I'm an editor over at Chronicle Books, and I would love to find more MG novels this year—especially ones that feature queer kiddos with big feelings, are a KNIVES OUT-style mystery, or use horror as metaphor! 🏳️🌈🕵️😈

#MSWL : Nonfiction that turns me into that person at dinner parties. Cold War spy games, true crime that makes me triple-check my locks, pop culture deep dives that make people say how do you even know this? If it sends me into a research spiral at 2 AM, I’m in. #amquerying (1/n)

These are some of my perennial #MSWL wishes. You can see a fuller list on my website, though this obviously isn't everything: michellewitteliterary.com/query-guidel...
I'll try to think of specific things tomorrow to give you an idea of the kinds of books I like. But I also love to be surprised.

I love to get queries for books that fit any of these descriptors: weird, strange, odd, quirky, creepy, bizarre, peculiar.
I would kill to find the next Edward Gorey. Like seriously, an author and/or illustrator with the same twisted, quirky vibe is my dream. Or the next Roald Dahl.

A few more #MSWL a bit early: I would love to find some chapter books and early readers (even better if you're also an illustrator).
I love board books as well, but those I want to see from author-illustrators.
For picture books, I'm willing to see text only, but I do prefer author-illustrators.
