It’s that time of year when fall submissions start flying, so here’s a little #MSWL thread! Big picture, I’m acquiring MG and YA novels and graphic novels in all genres and am always looking for more underrepresented voices in all categories.

All-Age Category #MSWL wants

☑️ Religions & spiritual beliefs that are underrepresented in publishing
☑️ Intersectionality

Basically: The world we live in is diverse. Books written for kids in the 21st century should reflect that.

I should note here - I would LOVE to see more PB queries from authors whose experiences are underrepresented in publishing. That's permanently on my #MSWL!

Though I think it goes without saying, within these genres, I'd love to work with writers from underrepresented communities.

On another note, agents & publishing folks, if you're interested in chatting, I'd love to meet more people to talk books and anything/everything else! 🥰

Some #MSWL things:

1) MG fantasy, please! Especially myth-based, w/a strong focus on character, & a beautiful world/setting.

2) Contemporary MG/YA with LGBTQ+ characters.

3) MG graphic novels!

4) Underrepresented voices.

5) YA or MG that deals w/grief and/or mental health.

As a Black editor, one of my goals is to acquire diverse voices including LGTBQIA+, BIPOC, Latinx, neurodiverse, and other underrepresented identities. I’m very passionate about diversity and representation in publishing. #MSWL
