There's a lot of tidy feel-good fantasy being published right now, and a lot of Glorious Revolution fantasy, and I'm not seeking either of those! I'm way more interested in the people running out into the snow in pajamas to film ICE, or getting thousands of whistles printed & shipped.

I’m a big David Cronenberg girlie, so I’m always on the lookout for body horror and/or weird psychosexual horror. Gimme that freaky shit ala CRASH, THE CELL, or HELLRAISER and POSSESSION. I’m also down for thrillers ala BASIC INSTINCT #MSWL

By "surreal," I mainly mean books that feel like SFF but technically aren't-- I'd love a project that takes place on a reality TV set, or largely on the internet, regardless of whether it has other speculative elements. AMATKA is an all-time favorite book.

Also looking for stylish nonfiction in the vein of Alex Marzano-Lesnevish's The Fact of a Body, Maggie's Smith's You Could Make This Place Beautiful, and Matthew Zapruder's The Story of a Poem.

My dream project would be MILDRED, a biography of Pope Leo's mother. (I'm generally fascinated by the Catholic Church, which I find to be both gothic and life-giving.) A favorite book is Skinfolk by Matthew Pratt Guterl.

I am especially looking for essay collections and cultural criticism that combat MAGA and AI culture by inviting readers to wonder, dream, and build a culture of encounter. At a time of scale, spectacle, and predictability, I like stories that are quiet, surprising, strange, and unruly. #MSWL
