Lastly, I have a wide-range of adult stories I'm seeking--many are the same from last year. BUT I am really into finding a paranormal romance and romantic suspense in 2023. My steam level varies, but the plot matters more than the sexiness. I don't rep erotical.
So many teens are reading a particular author, but I really would LOVE an authentic teen contemporary romance. The emotional rollercoaster. The disapproving parents. Messy. Concentual. Sweet. NOT written for adults--think the new season of Ginny and Georgia.
Here are the ADULT GENRES I am seeking in 2022:
Women’s Fiction
Book Club/Commercial Fiction
Contemporary Romance/Rom-Coms
Non-Political Thrillers/Mysteries/Suspense
Horror
Historical Fiction - with a contemporary feel
I REALLY want some COLLEGE-AGE YA! I binged The Sex Lives of College Girls and just adored these characters so much. I want to see diversity, humor, willingness to be messy, friendship, and honesty.
There can be romance, but it doesn't need to be the center of it all.
2. Adult rom-com or contemporary romance set during the holidays—I love Christmas, but I’d love to see diverse holidays celebrated also.
The BIGGEST take away here should be to send me gooey love stories set in non-Western places, that have diverse characters, and any pairing—m/m, f/f, f/m. I just really want my heart to swoon when I read.
Please please please don’t have the romantic interest to die of cancer, or in a car crash, or commit suicide. 💔
Even if romance isn’t the main feature, if it has these characteristics I want to see it.
In MG—yes there can be romance in MG—I really want that sweet and innocent first crush, first kiss, first hand holding. I want the feels to wrap around me like a warm blanket.
Take me back to that awkward time where the love interest doesn’t know what hits them when they meet “the one”—especially if it’s enemies to lovers!
My Monday #MSWL feature is romance. In YA I am looking for rom coms. Give me a modern, YA twist of When Harry Met Sally any day with any pairing. #loveislove #amagenting
What am I missing in my inbox?
1. I want smushy sweet romance that makes me tear up when I read--like LOVE, VICTOR or LOVE, SIMON or RED WHITE and ROYAL BLUE.
2. I want relationships that are full of friendship and happiness, especially written with a cast of diverse characters.
