I love VERY DIFFERENT fantasy. The more genre-bending the better. Kritika's books blend epic fantasy (no swords!) with a touch of sci fi, STRONG sense of place, & strong contemporary relevance. If you're wondering what I mean by "very different fantasy" on #MSWL - add this TBR!

I can see when the research a NT writer has done consists solely of media exposure to, rather than interaction w/ND people.

These authors mean well. But media exposure is NOT enough to write w/o harm to the community.

I just about smashed my phone when I read this.

On my #MSWL too! Epic fantasy that broadens the category outside its "typical" settings (read: the European-inspired settings that publishing has poured money into while passing over fantasy from non-white cultures) is fantasy I want to represent.

I would really like an incredibly, joyfully queer sci fi or epic fantasy, please. Like as rainbow and full of gay glee as possible. And fun tech. But also blow stuff up. Also magic. Or aliens.

OR GLEEFUL RAINBOW TECHY MAGIC ALIENS WHO BLOW STUFF UP.

Thinking a little bit about #MSWL tonight! I'm actively seeking Adult SFF. I look for explosively different worlds, intricate politics,new/different presentations of magic,&sci fi that focuses on influence of tech rather than tech itself. Writing quality/originality matters most.
