#MSWL in all the contemporary YA (or MG) I read, I like to see boys being feminists and practicing healthy relationships and consent. ALWAYS queer-positive. I'd also love to see a #nonfiction proposal talking directly to boys about feminism and consent.

This makes me want some kind of frantic, trippy sci-fi set in an energy charged city with some kind of spooky, clandestine cat-like creature that kinda just shows up everywhere until the MC realizes it's helping them solve scifi crime from the shadowsboredpanda.com/playstation-5-โฆ
I'd tag this with MSWL but it just might be too weird...
... and it would be great if this was also super packed with LGBTQ+ characters too
... oh also if the whole story took place in the course of a night

โข Fresh, complex aduly fantasy! I do not want to see fae, elves, or other commonly-utilized fantasy creatures. Show me characters realizing their world is way, way bigger (maybe magically?) Than they realized. Bring me intense relationships here. Family drama. FANTASY CLOTHES.Ignoring the typo... this is always on my wishlist for adult fantasy!!! Also: women with magic of all ages and stages of life, beautiful&interactive fantasy settings, rich cultural influence, and surprising new applications of magic or fantasy elements. #MSWL 1/

โข Adult sci fi! I need, like, an EXTREMELY energetic space opera. I want a sensory explosion in space, an enemy so frightening I get nightmares, that I'll come to understand and hopefully empathize with, too. Show me how the characters misunderstood their whole universe.Would really, really love to see this in my query box! #mswl

@bookendslit Sigh. No threats, just threads. #EditButtonNeededJumping on this @bookendslit #MSWL pile of awesomeness! I'm still desperate for my contemp YA updated Girl: Interrupted (NOT SFF for this). Mental health, mental health, mental health.
Also seeking MG SFF.
I'd love to see some new adult space opera with #ownvoices elements!

@NaomisLitPix As a literary agent when you look at query letters, i.e. YA query letter, are there keywords that really stand out to you that peaks your interest in potential manuscript? Cheers.Hi Ronald! I think for me, it's the overall whole package that catches my interest rather than keywords in the query. But of course if I see my #MSWL comp titles or an #ownvoices story it does catch my eye.

Updating my #MSWL!I desperately want YA contemporary. Powerful female friendships fraught w/tension & drama. An updated YA Girl: Interrupted. Show me how a peer catastrophe in high school truly feels like the end of the world. Validate those moments & their impact.
Still REALLY looking for this updated YA Girl: Interrupted sort of story! #MSWL

#MSWL Some of my favorite adult fantasy and sci fi titles:THE TETHERED MAGE by Melissa Caruso, PLANETFALL by Emma Newman, PRIEST OF BONES by Peter McLean, THE POPPY WAR by R.F. Kuang, and STORY OF YOUR LIFE/ARRIVAL by Ted Chiang.
#MSWL as you can see by the above list, I love sharp twisty politics, bizarre aliens and worlds, unreliable narrators, vicious political/criminal entities, tightly-woven character narratives that shock me in the end, and frightening, unique manifestations of magic.
