I watched "The Blair Witch Project" this weekend, and am real proud of myself for sleeping afterward. It makes me want to read a YA horror in that vein, where your imagination makes everything worse. Urban legends. Haunted woods. Someone make me afraid to sleep, please.

Speaking of Shakespeare, wouldn't mind seeing a modern take on MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING or MIDSUMMERS NIGHT'S DREAM in a YA contemporary or YA/Adult Fantasy.Much Ado about Nothing has been my favorite Shakespeare since the 4th grade. I wonder what it would look like set in a high school. Definitely a #MSWL. Must star IPOC.

Put my summer Friday to good use yesterday, and finally visited @Weeksville, the remaining houses from one of the first free black settlements, right in the middle of Brooklyn. Highly recommend for my fellow history nerds. (Also, #mswl in a big way.)

I’d also love to see an #OwnVoices Latinx contemporary romance set in the barrio. Even better if it’s #LGBTQIA as well. #MSWL

You know what I’d love to see done well? An erotic romance story set in a brothel in space. Basically, The Expanse meets Copper. #MSWLStill waiting to see this come through my inbox. #MSWL

Love, Tara @TalkativeTara
In a rare episode of Tara Has An Opinion About Picture Books, can I just say to publishing: please use them as an opportunity to teach kids pronoun flexibility! I WISH I had learned it earlier + would probably have less slip-ups today. There’s no reason to be so rigid.#MSWL (Is that the hashtag?) Someone send me a pb that does interesting things with they/them/their?

YES, there is a storied history of queer cis women, lacking the literary foundation or social space to be queer & women at the same time, writing queer cis men. this is a function of oppression & DOES NOT HAVE TO PERSIST. we can do better. we can build the canon we didn't get.yes yes yes and #MSWL
