For me, #fantasy has to have an utterly original plot. It cannot in any way feel familiar. And the writing has to be incredible. There are so few markets left for a fantasy novel. It has to grab the reader from page one. #MSWL #Submissions 2/3

Last but certainly not least for ALL QUERIES: send me your #OwnVoices stories esp if you identify as BIPOC. As a mixed raced #Latinx immigrant, I'm ❤️🔥 about representing under- or misrepresented voices. If you're comfortable, please include your background and inspiration.

I also adore memoirs — please see my fiction guidelines for these stories because (a) I’m drawn to the same themes in novels as I am in memoirs; and (b) a good memoir reads like a novel.

In terms of non-fiction, I am looking for Psychology, Pop Culture, Science, Business, and Lifestyle from experts in their fields. Proven expertise is a MUST. I don’t like that we live in a world where platform matters, but it does matter. Include info on yours in your query.

The thing that makes me keep reading is VOICE. Please send me your voice-y narratives. I want access to your narrator’s INNER LIFE. I should feel what they are feeling. They should feel ‘bad’ things (e.g. anger, envy, greed, etc.), too.

I want to read stories that are dark + taboo. I ❤️ secrets and revelations. I ❤️ plot twists. I ❤️ reading about characters that grow up navigating two opposite worlds (class, culture, etc.). I do NOT like reading about perpetually happy, good, and moral characters (snooze).

Does your story have a feminist angle? 💪Does it involve parentified children? Does your MC consider herself to be a bad person? Did she have to reinvent herself? I AM INTO ALL OF THIS.
