#Horror #MSWL GIVE ME YOUR WEIRD SH*T! Things that experiment with the form (choose your own adventure), use images (Strange Houses), or just do weird, wild things (House of Leaves).

#Horror #MSWL Give me horror comedy! Think Sam Raimi, Eli Craig, and Edgar Wright vibes. But I would especially love to see more diverse voices in this space! I love reluctant heroes/ everyday schlubs who are forced to reckon with dark dealings. And a dash of social commentary along the way.

I'm interested in investigative nonfiction; Cobalt Red is an example from a geopolitical and human rights lens. And anything with an element of gonzo journalism. #mswl

#MSWL I'd love to see wuxia or xianxia stories from Asian writers or the diaspora, either in YA/MG. I find stories from Asian history and folklore fascinating and want to see more from authors from those cultures. But I'm not interested if it's from a cultural appropriation self-insert perspective.

Super eager to see some folk horror. Especially if it toes the line of speculative without going full paranormal. A kind of “am I imagining it or is that deer kind of f****d up?” vibe 😉 #mswl

I'd like more "light" crime narratives about swindlers/forgers/thieves, where the purpose is really to bring readers deep into a fascinating subculture. Examples include The Feather Thief, In Vino Duplicitas, and The Absinthe Forger (which I repped). #mswl

I always hope it doesn't need to be said, but sadly it does: even though I'm so white I'm clear and very much cishet, I'm not the agent for books that feature any kind of intolerance toward other people, whether race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc. I don't tolerate intolerance. #MSWL

Sidebar: I’m not really the agent to try if your books are about BIPOC characters, but you don’t come from that background. And I’m going to be brutally honest, I don’t care if you’re married or something to a person from that race/ethnicity, because it’s not the same as a lived experienced. #MSWL

Gothic Horror! This will be a thread bc I love this genre. First up, I desperately desire more southern gothic by Black authors and especially if it comps to SINNERS (I’m not really the one to try if you’re just comping it for a book with vampires) & the IWTV show. #MSWL

On the unexpected, one of my favorite things is being presented with something really unique in one of the categories that I represent, even if doesn’t technically check any of my Wishlist boxes. So don’t be afraid to try me. #MSWL

Across all genres, I like characters that make morally-dubious decisions and then have to deal with the fallout, a sense of humor, a distinctive narrative voice(s), unique settings/subcultures, and the unexpected. #MSWL
