A reminder that I really want a MG about being a child of an immigrant. Something from Crazy Rich Asians that hit home to me was this line (summarized for space):

"You may look Chinese and speak Chinese, but not here (head) or here (heart)." #MSWL

I will also say that 4 of my novelists were #MSWL finds: @LauraTNamey with hoarding, @alexandraovery with Klaus like character, @KariTrogen with Swan Lake elements (from my auditory MSWL), and @jamlo525 for celebrity.

Most of my MG was query pile, & most of my YAs #pitmad finds

And if you have made it this far in my fan girling, you might have noticed that the genres I DON'T HAVE. Which is why I am looking for:

-Nonfiction
-Historical Fiction
-Magical Realism

In addition to my fantasy and contemporary list. #MSWL

Each of them nailed their MG voice, and that is central to me. #MSWL

@LauraTNamey sucked me in with her prose and the perfect version of my MSWL.

All of #TeamNat's contemporary YA authors had a voice that hooked me and characters to spoke to me. But plots that removed me from my everyday life. #MSWL

So with my #MSWL in fantasy I am looking for these elements:
-amazing writing
-fantastic world building
-complex, rounded characters
-high concept plots or explorations of tropes froma new angle

I'm on the look out for a good escapism read. #MSWL

Contemporary fiction is something I am always looking for. But hooky contemporary fiction. #MSWL

With MG Narrative Non-fiction, I am looking for biographies. Tell me the true story of someone whose story needs to be told. #MSWL

The graphic novels is so hard. I had one I loved but I had to pass on because it wasn't ready, but I am looking for authentic dialogue and a story that feels original and different. Fantasy is where I lean towards on these, but open to see anything. #MSWL

For Romance, give me sweeping passion, epic loves, chemistry that makes me giddy. Favorite romances are #Klaroline, ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS, THE WINNER'S CURSE, etc. #MSWL

For YA fantasy, I am hear queens/assassins/con artist are a harder sell, so give fantasy that is new and different. Like I wanted THE 100 in fantasy. Or the Cold War in fantasy. Rethink the genre. #MSWL

For YA and MG Historical Fiction, voice is key. World building is key. I am less interested in post 1950s historical , unless it is a history I don't know. #MSWL

So my list priorities are as follows:
