Ali Herring @HerringAliWhere are my joyful stories featuring #POC characters? Diversity pls! Black, Latinx, Asian, Indian, Native American, etc. This term gets read over a lot in my #MSWL’s. For those who don’t know, POC refers to the term "person of color” & describes any person NOT considered white.
So much #mswl! poc and lgbtq+ individuals just being people and living life!
Also hungry for contemporary with LGBT, mental health, and disability rep. Not necessarily issue book plots for GN, but characters in their lives (I'd LOVE Fantasy with disability rep!) #amagenting #querytip
Oo! And what about a YA (Or adult, really) where it's f/f and they're forced to work on a painting together to win scholarship money or startup money. But they hate each other and then end up having a paint fight 😍 enemies to lovers! #MSWL
Definitely always on the lookout for contemporary. I want all the feels, the angst. In YA, I really want mental health focus on LGBTQ+. DEFF want LGBTQ+ middle grade crushes! GIMME! #MSWL
ZR/Zabé Ellor @ZREllor#MSWL Historical YA (not open to adult yet!) about trans/nonbinary characters, by trans/nonbinary authors
I wanna touch on contemporary romance real quick. I love cute awkwardness. I want gut-wrenching love (think Just One Day by @gayleforman). I need LGBTQ+ that isn't just "coming out" or "issue-driven". If you give me Andy Anderson, I'll love you forever #MSWL
Give me badass females and POC in your historical! Big plus if it's LGBTQ+ #MSWL just don't give me Shakespeare, Henry VIII, or Greek gods - a little worn out on WWII, as well, unless it has a totally new POV
Here are the genres I'm open to: Fantasy (all kinds), Contemporary, Cont. Romance, select Romance, light Sci Fi, Magical Realism, Historical.
Upper MG, YA, and Adult only
I want LGBTQ+ and diverse characters, themes, and worlds. I want mental health and disability rep. #MSWL
bread fraud @tanklesbianlisten to me. listen. you can just not include homophobia in your fantasy worldbuilding. it can just not be a thing. you don't have to provide justification for it. you can just have some gay characters living their lives without being persecuted. a revolutionary concept
PLEASE DO THIS! So tired of the queerness in a manuscript being seen as “odd” #mswl
I see SO MUCH WWI and WWII plots. GIVE ME LGBTQ+! What happened to nurses who smuggle jews from concentration camps and fall in love? What about soldiers on the front lines who turn lovers? I WANT THEM. This includes Trans characters #MSWL
#MSWL still looking for my gender-swapped Hercules retelling (or LGBT+ Hercules!). Also still on the hunt for a great underwater escapade, perhaps mermaids (creepy or complicated, not typical-disney feel) but not mandatory.
