#MSWL 3/ And then the alienβs goal is of course human subjugation, whether as a host to the alien or other. Not sure if it ends badly (or at least for a while) or this alien has kind of an Evan Walker, The 5th Wave, moment which changes their plans.

#MSWL 2/ Thereβs no verbal communication. But if they touch, thereβs some sort of psychic connection, very unexpected for the alien. Iβm thinking written in 2 perspectives, with the alien a bit of an unreliable narrator.

#MSWL 1/ When I reopen to queries, I would really dig a βhostβ type SFF. Super atmospheric & BEAUTIFUL in which a human meets an alien life form in the woods/wild & begins a friendship. Almost starting off very Bridge to Terabithiaβsecret, private, magical ...

#MSWL When I reopen, would love an Aladdin-esque or Beasts Made of Night-esque feel to the protagonist, that sort of underdog, street rat, do anything to survive, but heart of gold characters, where the world feels alive too.

Would love a YA contemporary that's a series of letters written to a younger sister (now 15) from a sister who died at 16/17 when girl was a 3-yo. Imagine a serious GOOD LUCK CHARLIE meets THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. Could alternate between letters & new sibling's perspective. #MSWLThe older sister's story'd be told to the younger & of course that would relate & also contrast to younger's life (b/c I don't see her being sick too). Younger sister gets to live her life, but also gets to see her older sister "lived" vibrantly too, as long as she could. #MSWL

My kids built a fort and named it Fort Skittles π€£ pic.twitter.com/TULsZy7hnoOh thatβs sooooo cool!!! I call #MSWL. Someone give me an awesome middle grade novel about a group of normal everyday neighborhood kids who go into a forest everyday after school and live out magical lives. Like a happy Bridge to Terabithia.

The βrat invasionβ part of this story was pretty scary (not intended to be by the author) but still the thought ... unsettling. nbcnews.com/politics/natioβ¦Remember MRS. FRISBY & THE RATS OF NIMH? Iβm not much for animal protagonists but if you can give me RATS OF NY, entrenched societies, famine, turf wars, kings, democracies, dictators, but a FRISBY w/heart & make it a little scary & 3D world building, I might be in. #MSWL

Would love an adult sci-fi, or spec-fi with strong world-building centered on a Latinx culture, but also want it to have a very strong science fiction plot line. Would love Dune vibes. #MSWL

Why can't we support a woman for president. We expect women to raise a family but not a nation? twitter.com/nytimes/statusβ¦Can I please, #MSWL, have an adult fiction written documentary style (as if memoir maybe, or interview style like SLEEPING GIANTS) where a woman becomes president and overcomes all the crap.

My Hollywood peeps...a question for you? Why canβt we get some Black kids doing light, fun stuff? Going on adventures? Like, whatβs it take? Societal ills need to be addressed. Racism gotta get got. There are still 19 notable slaves yet to get a biopic. I get it.This is one of my eternal #MSWLβs. Iβd really love some middle grade here. Think Goonies. Think space adventure. Think Indiana Jones. Think Flipped. Think Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys. Maybe a contemporary about a boy gymnast. Something! Anything light & fun with diverse characters.

My two cents on YA sci-fiβit works best when the science fiction elements line up with actual teen struggles. Uglies and Divergent are two great examples. Body image? Cliques and belonging? These books use science fiction to speak directly to the unique needs of teensIβm all for YA sci-fi, but totally agree πππ, so if you can show me how your YA SF aligns to teen struggles, then #MSWL, yβall.
