I love the quirkiness and humor and vibes of TAZ (The Adventure Zone) so much. So if someone wants to send me a YA about a bunch of friends doing their actual play/gaming podcast and just living their best lives I would be forever in your debt. #mswl

I want (more than anything) for those stories to be centered around black teens and teens of color who are passionate & creative & happy to let their geek flag fly. Stories with inclusive casts that are supportive, want to have fun & make a difference with their creations. #MSWL
Editor
📚 Finally, I want entertaining, inspirational stories about fandom and geek communities. I'm looking for less fanfic & cosplay stories (unless they are super unique & have a killer voice) & more stories about video games, web comics, anime/manga, podcasts, film, and more. #MSWL

EVERYTHING! I love a good tournament arc, epic showdown & accidental/acedemic athlete (as long as they put in the work to get even better). Examples: Rock climbing, running, roller derby, rowing, chess, esports, board games, cooking, LARPing, ice skating . . . Surprise me! #MSWL
Editor
📚 More diverse, inclusive sport & competition stories! Send me entertaining stories that make palms sweat & hearts race & inspire us to get out & try something new. Underdog teams, determined solo athlete, and everything in between are fair game. So what counts? #MSWL

📚 More diverse, inclusive teens falling in love! Looking for romance, romantic comedy & situational rom-coms that can make me laugh and then hit me in all the feels. Favorites: fake dating, rivals-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, stuck together & second chance #MSWL

I really want an upbeat, playful femme/non-binary friend squad just figuring out life & supporting the heck out of each other. Generally also looking for stories with conflicts that test the group dymanics but make them stronger as they work TOGETHER to overcome obstacles #MSWL

📚 Contemporary, commercial YA with an upbeat voice, emotional stakes & a heart of gold! Send all the situational comedies, quirky coming of age & tried-and-true friendship/squad stories. #MSWL

Now that we've rolled into 2021, I think it's time to focus on what I want to bring more of to @RP_Kids and publishing in general this year. I'm so grateful to have worked on some amazing books in 2020 & I'm excited to meet even more agents & authors this year. ✨📚A #MSWL 🧵
📚 First and foremost, I'm looking for more YA and children's non-fiction by BIPOC, LGBTQ, & other marginalized creators and stories that are bursting with joy and passion -- especially when it comes to fandom/pop culture/geek stories and communities! #MSWL

I love when you ask someone about a thing they know a lot about and they start with "okay, so" because you KNOW you're about to get a novel's worth of nerd shit and it's going to be so delightfulBasically my #MSWL ✨

it's easy to write angst. making someone feel happy?that's the real magic trick.
As much as I personally love all the angsty books and the genre books and the books that open the conversation for difficult topics and issues, what I really want right are books that are full of hope and love and offer that spark of joy to a reader when they need it.

So good!! 🏐 pic.twitter.com/B1Ob58kuctAlso I #MSWL the heck out of these friendships & rivalries! I want more strong bonds, relationships that evolve & friends that make mistakes & learn together.
More characters who'll never stop fighting for their dreams because they know their friends are there to support them.

Illustrated/graphic novel style non-fiction is something that I really want to see more of in my inbox!
Cookbooks and food are great, but I would love to see author/illustrator teams work on other topics as well like film, books, nature, science, pop culture, etc. #MSWL
