Saturday Evening Thoughts
I would really love to find an exciting, middle grade adventure/ fantasy set somewhere other than the US or Europe.
Great example: THE SERPENT'S SECRET by @Sayantani16

Today in pulp I look back at one of the most popular paperback genres of all time, now all but forgotten about. This is the story of gothic romance... pic.twitter.com/W8d6mmNX9Z
Great thread and I'd love to see more Gothic romance queries in my inbox! #MSWL

Just passed by a little girl staring through a window at our lifesize model of a T. rex, whispering earnestly:"Wake up, dinosaur. Come on. Wake up. You can do it."

Last, but not least, the book of my heart, the one I keep searching for. If you have a GONE GIRL take on Jane Austen's world, WHERE IS IT and why don't I have it yet??

Literary Agent
If you write books with a hint of magic or otherworldliness, I wanna see them! Books like THE COTTINGLEY SECRET, THE ESSEX SERPENT, or A SECRET HISTORY OF WITCHES.

In narrative nonfiction, I'd love to see more food-centered books, especially those exploring forgotten aspects of our food history or that look at the intersections of race, feminism, and food. Think THE COOKING GENE or WHAT SHE ATE.

Literary Agent
I'm also still looking for that super quirky, modern take on the traditional English village murder mystery.

Literary Agent
In mystery, again, I love historicals! Especially those with strong women who kick ass and take names. Think Deanna Raybourn and Sherry Thomas.

Literary Agent
In contemporary romance, I am much more likely to fall in love with a book that makes me laugh vs one that makes me cry. I'm not a huge fan of billionaires or motorcycle clubs, so those are probably best sent to other agents who love them.

Literary Agent
Now for some specifics! In romance, I am particularly interested in historical romances, and would love to see more diversity in my submissions. Let's see the Regency, Victorian, and Edwardian periods through different eyes.

Who's up for some Friday afternoon #mswl tweets? Here are some specific things I'll be looking for at BookEnds! As a general reminder, I rep adult romance, mystery, women's, and upmarket fiction, and have a deep and abiding love for historical fiction across all genres. I also rep narrative nonfiction, especially on topics like the literary world, food, material culture, & social history.
