now i'm just thinking more random 2024 #mswl things... i'd also love to see more epic romance! sweeping, fated love stories with world-changing stakes, different lifetimes, etc. i also love romances with fairytale and/or folklore sensibilities💖

thinking about what i'd like to see more of in 2024 and i'd be thrilled to get more cryptid submissions (in any genre)! also anything with eldritch vibes, weird things in the woods, or incomprehensible cosmic horrors 😇#mswl

What I'm Not Looking For:

I'm not the best fit for any nonfiction, women's fiction, chapter books or picture books. Those are other Belcastro agents' wheelhouses but not mine! I'm also not the best person for stories with pro cop or military storylines. 11/?

Graphic Novels:

I would love to see this in any of the above age categories, especially if it is fantasy, sci fi or horror. I love manga art styles too! I'd also be open to retellings here esp set in modern day! 10/?

Adult/YA Romantasy:

I really want to see queer stories here (and everywhere else too!). I especially want sapphic and trans/nonbinary characters. High or low stakes is okay here so long as the romance is believable and I get the worldbuilding! 9/?

Adult/YA Horror:

I will say it takes A LOT to scare me. If you're story can keep me up at night 👀! I want monsters, sentient settings and scares that mess with your mind! I want MCs that can't trust what they see or reality is so blurred they can't tell the difference! 8/?

I also really want science fiction horror! Please send me your horror set in space! Show me science getting out of control or defying all possibilities and breaking loose! 7/?

Adult/YA Science Fiction:

For me, the more science the better! I love extrapolations on current science/tech. I love stories set in space or that involve space travel or are set after some sort of catastrophe/apocalypse. 6/?

I love genre blends like sci fantasy and strong horror elements. I also really want to see queernorm worlds, accessible fantasies and diverse casts.

For YA specifically, I'd love to see retellings! 5/?

Adult/YA Fantasy:

For both here, I really want cozy fantasy. Low stakes 'comfort' reads are huge especially if it's got something to do with food or music! Contemporary and urban fantasies are also great and I love vamps and werewolves! 4/?

MG Horror:

Again, I love all of this, but really want haunted houses or schools! Would also love to see some monter hunting or sentient natural settings like forests or lakes. Have a creepy summer camp? Yes that is for me! 3/?

MG Fantasy:

I love all these fantasy here, I would love to see magical creatures, especially dragons. A magic school with diverse cast? Send it my way! 2/?

Oh gosh, aside from doing a search for #MSWL , I’m not sure. I’m actively searching for (preferably) a high-level gymnast or diver who is forced to give up their sport due to extenuating circumstances and how they cope. But I’d be open to other sports.

I am in the mood for a really emotional literary fiction read. #MSWL . I want a character who stays with me long after the story has ended.
