I'd love to see more cozy fantasy and science fiction with romance. Sweet or medium spicy is good for me. I tend to prefer fantasy-forward rather than romance-forward so sightly more emphasis on the fantasy plot. #MSWL

No chosen ones - I want regular people being heroes, stepping up

Not really into fae - it's not an absolute no, but a general preference

Also not really into non humanoid aliens. This is off trend, I know, but it doesn't really hit for me.

The world may be broken, but hope is not crazy.

Science/magic forward, death defying, taking on billionaires, incredible adventure

(Please no military/colonial fantasies/exploitation/Islamaphobia - we know better)

3) YA focused on BIG feelings, where magic serves as a proxy for those feelings

4) Something fun and escapist

5) Stuff that feels like being a 90s kid/early 2000s teen - bright colors, big personalities, chunky shoes, fewer screens, more optimism

1) Gayer, swoonier romance (gay, here, meaning any LGBTQ+ pairing that leans into the queerness of it)

2) Small stories with BIG personal stakes (e.g. TJ Klune esque), preferably with magic but not required if romance

In honor of #MSWL day, seemed like a good time to share some things I'm especially excited about.

My clients are prepared to inundate me shortly with manuscripts, so not sure when I'll open, but I promise to keep you updated!

Something to know about me is that I prefer a hopeful ending. That doesn't have to mean perfect, it just leaves the reader with a feeling that things are going to be okay. This is very personal to me, I just think the world is hard enough that I want my fictional characters to be okay #MSWL

Send me your messy female MCs who are doing their best to try and figure their sh*t out and maybe making terrible decisions in the process. But it all works out in the end. #MSWL

First #MSWL : I have been obsessed with movies like HELL HOUSE LLC and NOROI: THE CURSE for so long now. I’d love a horror novel that feels close to those, along the lines of RULES FOR VANISHING or SKELETON CREEK, whether kid lit or adult.

Character driven stories where the MC has strong agency that is felt from the first page. The stakes for the MC don't need to be end of the world, they just need to be end of their world #MSWL

I know most of us are dreaming of warmer weather at this point, but I'd love to see PB submissions with ✨cozy little moments.✨ Think Eliza Wheeler's A COZY WINTER DAY, Devil Elle Kurtz's THE BAKERY DRAGON, and Steve McCarthy's THE WILDERNESS.

I'm open to all things MG and YA (as well as some adult NF), but I'd love to find a story with a Sixth-Sense-level twist, a twist that forces you to reread and confirm the clues were there—you just missed them entirely because the author is that good. #mswl

I love cozy stories. Ones that make you want to curl up with a blanket and that feel like the biggest warm hug. The stakes are there and they can be high, but at the same time it's not having me hold on to the edge of my seat. #MSWL

I would love more contemporary stories with a speculative or magical twist. So grounded real world with something that isn't worldly, if you will. That can be anything from cursed objects, to ghosts, to a time slip... #MSWL

I'd probably give up a toe or something for a YA "Sugar and Spice" type story. Girls coming together for a good reason but doing bad things and getting away with it. If you haven't seen the movie, watch it. It's hysterical! #MSWL
