Saraciea is...on semi-hiatus @Sj_Fennell
Just a friendly reminder to all my editorial friends looking to acquire books for 2021. Black Latinx voices are still not present in this industry. Can you pledge to acquire at least 2 black Latinx authors for 2021 for your list? #supportblacklatinxvoicesSaraciea is absolutely right, as usual, and to be clear: I am very much looking for Black Latinx voices across all the categories I represent! Please consider querying me if that’s you! (More about my list here: manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/laur…) #amquerying #MSWL

Here are a handful of the very specific things I'd like to find for my client list (more over at the #MSWL site!): a journalistic dive into MLMs; contemporary romance w/ protagonists/love interests who are BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and/or disabled; MG fiction by #actuallyautistic authors

Here are a handful of the very specific things I'd like to find for my client list (more over at the #MSWL site!): fun & fluffy YA; political/social justice nonfiction about the sex work industry; a criminal justice-oriented look at marijuana legalization and decarceration

Writers Hotline: how can we help you today?Me: I have a book deal!!!
WH: Lol
Me: ... no seriously
WH: omg, did you announce it on Twitter
Me: not yet
WH: do it!!! pic.twitter.com/LOLsoNZ2Wy
Also, because I know a lot of people think of me for sad, serious YA (and yes, please do keep sending me that!), I also do fun and funny and fluffy, and I would love to see so much more of it, querying writers, please. #MSWL

I have just realized that one of my absolute favorite things in middle grade is suspicious, secret architecture in weird old houses. Secret passage? Yes, please. Hidden staircase? Thank you, ma’am. Mysterious hallway to nothing? I’ll take two. So, you know, #MSWL for that.

Last tweet has reminded me of the Note Notebooks I maintained with friends in elementary school that were a sort of shared diary interwoven with ridiculousness (bizarre stories, Weird Qwizzes, general goofiness). The group chat of my youth. On that note, #MSWL for a sincere but funny middle grade novel about kids facing real world stakes who are also just unapologetically little weirdoes.

can we have more about toxic friendships in YA? about how hard it is to walk away from a relationship that might be more intimate than a romantic one? about how toxic friendships can cut you deeper than you could imagine?Perpetual #MSWL

Now that I'm thinking about Mercutio, the character who (fortunately briefly) made me want to be an actor, #MSWL for a contemp R&J YA with Mercutio as the protagonist. He's the perfect fictional teen AND uses his dying breath to make a bad pun. What's not to love?

And as always, I'm most eager for underrepresented voices across all categories I represent. By underrepresented voices, I personally mean writers from marginalized communities that are not well represented in publishing, including multiply marginalized writers. #MSWL

But not every book needs a romantic interest of any kind. Romance isn't something everyone has/wants. I love friendship stories. I love found family stories. Have a book that understands that friendship is as fraught and rewarding as any other relationship? Please query me. #MSWL

Speaking of romance, we need more romance that doesn't glorify persistence. Give me heroes who take no for an answer. Give me active affirmative consent. My favorite tropes are enemies-to-lovers and what I like to think of as "whoops I'm in love with my BFF." #MSWL

I badly want your contemporary adult romance with heroes and/or heroines who are from marginalized communities. I know traditional romance publishing has not always been welcoming, and I respect authors who prefer to self-publish, but if you want to try, I want to try. #MSWL

Do you have a novel or reported nonfiction on the things I can't stop thinking about, like Morgellons, the Tamam Shud case, the Voynich manuscript, Hinterkaifeck, and the Sodder children? Gimme. ESPECIALLY if it's a novel inspired by Jestyn. Please. #MSWL

Very actively looking for fiction by #actuallyautistic authors with autistic protagonists, especially in middle grade, especially contemporary fiction. #MSWL

i used to be super hung up on the concept of "great literature" and now i'm like: just write something people want to read on a balcony on vacation and if they have a dinner they just might cancel it to keep reading that thing, and they can finish in a weekendLiterary Agent
Heartily recommend Wild Wild Country, which is fascinating on so many levels. Also #MSWL for any manuscript (fiction or non) with a central character as compelling and nuanced and complex and aggressively self-possessed as Sheela.
