I would love to see diverse rep and marginalized authors play with their comfort tropes. Small towns, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, sports rivals, marriage of convenience. I don’t think tropes are ever overplayed, they just need a great hook and a great sense of craft

I love books that hurt. That are so beautiful but maybe tragic too. Stories with big emotions and deep sense of community. I love stories that give us a ~thing~ our characters hold onto.

Young heists, mysteries, detectives, assassins. Middle grade or YA necromancers, supernatural hunters, and kids who get revenge

Romantic, steamy adult fantasy romances. Deals of convenience, betrayal, political intrigue, dueling families, rivals to lovers to enemies, immortals w/longstanding wars and deep histories. Ballroom dances that end with a dagger to the throat. Rich world building & magic systems

I’d also love some darker speculative work. Murder, magic, gothic, dark academia, occult conspiracies, races against the clock and morally grey heroes. Across all ages I want the dark and twisted

For the first time, I’m opening up to romance in the adult space, particularly contemporary stories that have a lot of layers, have a great backdrop, and an ensemble cast. I’ll be pretty picky here, but here are a few of my faves from the last year 🤍

In younger fiction, I’m looking for whimsy and fun, but also smart humor with twisted takes and thrilling mysteries. As always, I will sing the praises of The Owl House until the end of my days, but I also just love most animation out now and I would love to capture that in MG

Spies? Start em young. Better yet? Put it in a competition. There are trials? Give them to me. A game to break a curse? Yup. Heists set against a clock? Throw it at me.

Fae. I want all the fae. Fae with massive, expansive, lush worlds. Court intrigue. Royalty. Hot characters doing hot things while also using swords and knives. Fae with romance. Fated mates. Enemies to lovers. Killers sent into other lands. Fae.

I want MG/YA/Adult family dynasties with family members who would absolutely commit crimes “for the family” and need therapy but instead just like murder and luxury
