Alyssa Jennette Is Closed To Queries!
Ed Solomon @ed_solomonI'd so rather have a "flawed" screenplay with an original voice than a perfectly structured one that feels like literally anyone could have written it. (And with the plethora of "how to" books out there, pretty much anyone *can* write one, though very few can write a good one.)
Brandy Jensen @BrandyLJensen“In 2011 the U.S. had fewer than 15 known Catholic exorcists. Today, he said, there are well over 100.” !!!!!! theatlantic.com/magazine/archi…
Stacy Whitman @stacylwhitmanI've often said I'd LOVE a YA retelling of Much Ado, and I stand by that, but I'd love a feminist reclaiming of it, too. That's a #MSWL, by the way--YA graphic novel retelling of Much Ado about Nothing starring modern-day POC teens. What would such a retelling look like?
I would EXTREMELY love this. #MSWL
Tiffany Shelton, Witch-in-Training 🕸️ @TiffanyDiahannI can't tell you how much I say I want to acquire books about friendships, especially how to deal with either growing up and apart or having an incident that breaks the friendship apart. #MSWL twitter.com/Jene_e_edwards…
How many times have I asked for this? Give me my friendship breakup book—it hurts at every age. #MSWL
I saw a tween girl on a unicycle in the park yesterday. As she left the park she stopped, dismounted, and called to a boy her age, on his stoop across the street. He was also holding a unicycle. I want to know more! #MSWL
Bo Bolander @BBolanderRetelling of the Little Match Girl where al her match visions are of burning down capitalism and the patriarchy until she uses her last precious one to light a stick of dynamite & throw it over the palace gates
Orlando Dos Reis @odosreis@AlyssaJennette /a YA epistolary told ONLY through physical letters between friends who fall in love lamenting the dying art of letter writing.
Jessica Felleman @jmfellemanIllustrated memoir or graphic novel where the main character has synesthesia or somehow experiences the world in a non-traditional way #mswl
Hello I will fight Jess for this. #MSWL
(Love you, Jess!)
#MSWL YR/MG/YA graphic novels! Great art is the priority: by great I mean clean, expressive, well--and cleverly!--laid-out. You can do a lot with a little, but if you do a lot, those details better suck my face into the page. That+adorable, funny, heartbreaking characters.
Alyssa Jennette @AlyssaJennetteYo I would be VERY HERE to read all about a (magical?) Arctic culture in which the people communicate and bond with whales. Maybe pairing with a specific whale pal is a coming-of-age thing! #MSWL
Alyssa Jennette @AlyssaJennette#MSWL Not just (another) YA novel about having anxiety, but about the misunderstandings that arise between friends when one DOESN'T have anxiety, and how to deal.
Alyssa Jennette @AlyssaJennette#MSWL: A near-future novel about the end of the open internet, and how a grassroots rebellion is communicated and grown BOTH analog/off the grid and by circumventing Big Brother online. Give me handwritten codes, brilliant strategy, and principled hackers, please!
I just think the worldbuilding for this could be SO cool, particularly when it comes to analog codes. #MSWL
Alyssa Jennette @AlyssaJennetteI would love a picture book that introduces logic concepts. Or an MG whose central character applies logic to a complex mystery! #MSWL
Alyssa Jennette @AlyssaJennetteA book that about the fashion world in the vein of how Black Swan treated the ballet world. Think dark and twisty Devil Wears Prada. #MSWL
Alyssa Jennette @AlyssaJennetteA YA epistolary novel told through chats, emails, and texts about the decline of a best-friendship. #MSWL
Alyssa Jennette @AlyssaJennette#MSWL A novel--for any age group--about the breaking point in a friendship or family relationship. Tell me about having the strength to end contact with someone who can't be helped/is actively toxic. Relatedly: a book about intentional familial estrangement and its effects.
#MSWL By the way, the person doing the ending can be decisive AND devastated. It happens all the time! The agony comes before and after the decision is made, but that doesn't mean the decision isn't a clear one.
