Why and how is translation so hard? Here's a little non-comparative case study to help make the process more visible. 9 words from the very start of the Odyssey, lines 1-2: ὃς μάλα πολλὰ / πλάγχθη, ἐπεὶ Τροίης ἱερὸν πτολίεθρον ἔπερσεν. Basically, the point is that found families are amazing, especially those created out of desperation/necessity. Adding bloodlust/different philosophies and moralities about murder and God to that is really compelling! Vampires are cool! Struggling with humanity is universal!Anyway, Twilight presented a lot of really awesome concepts/characters that I wish we had spent more time with/centered the plot on. Maybe you can be inspired to use that prompt and explore where Meyer chose not to. #MSWL
