Alyssa Jennette Is Closed To Queries!
Sarah Guan @Sarah_GuanWhere were the parents of these teen heroines who said
“focus on your college applications”
“no dating until you’re eighteen”
“what’s his GPA?”
“how about this nice boy whose parents we’ve known for decades?”
This! Please, this! #MSWL
Alyssa Jennette @AlyssaJennetteBasically, the point is that found families are amazing, especially those created out of desperation/necessity. Adding bloodlust/different philosophies and moralities about murder and God to that is really compelling! Vampires are cool! Struggling with humanity is universal!
Anyway, Twilight presented a lot of really awesome concepts/characters that I wish we had spent more time with/centered the plot on. Maybe you can be inspired to use that prompt and explore where Meyer chose not to. #MSWL
Yo I would be VERY HERE to read all about a (magical?) Arctic culture in which the people communicate and bond with whales. Maybe pairing with a specific whale pal is a coming-of-age thing! #MSWL
Austin Gilkeson 🐙 @osuteinNow imaging a movie where a dad with two secret families watches on in horror as his two sons, unknown to each other, face off in the state wrestling championship.
I mean, like... #MSWL
Hanna Masaryk @ThePiebrarianKeeping up with the Kardashians is basically just a modern AU of Pride and Prejudice. Like, Kris just wants the girls to be provided for. Kim is Lizzie, Kanye is Darcy, and the spin-off is Revenge Body with Mary Bennet.
Slush Thurman @Sam_ThurmanOk, so remember that scene in Liar Liar when Jim Carey asks to be excused from court to pee, and the judge asks why, and he struggles in pain, unable to lie, until screaming that holding your pee can cause incontinence? Thread:
#MSWL Give me this level of deep-dive on your speculative "found powers" premise. (Also Sam is hysterical and talented and you should follow him.)
Preeti Chhibber @runwithskizzersRecommendation request! Do people have go-to kid lit that represents South Indians? I'm excited about all the North Indian desi rep we're getting, but I'd like to expand it. Reply w/ any South Indian recs you have for Kid Lit (esp if South Indian American reps). Thx!
I live a few blocks from India Square in Jersey City, and would LOVE love love love love to see way more manuscript in my inbox about my neighbors and their cultures. #mswl
There's often a lot of bending over backwards in YA to create alternate worlds/societies that are led by teenagers/young adults. Why not pull from real life and give me a book about riding the rails/hobo culture? I'm fascinated. #MSWL
