stories where the pain and labor of communication between two people in an intimate relationship is palpable; that capture the ease and comfort that belies that inevitable, seemingly insurmountable distance between them. #mswl

Local woman seeks graphic novel written from the perspective of an indignant crow. #MSWL

I still want #ownvoices set outside the US of all types, but I'm (at least for now) especially interested in fish out of water #ownvoices which allows the reader to see it through the eyes of an outsider who has been let inside. #MSWL

In returning or traveling to the place we learn about it not just from being there, but through the eyes of someone seeing it for the first time. #MSWL

In thinking about these books more I realized that there is a similarity. Both books feature a fish out of water--a lead character (maybe protagonist) who was not originally from that place but is an American with family from that place (Cuban-American). #MSWL

Two of my top books for 2018 so far are #ownvoices set in countries outside the US (Singapore & Cuba). These are the types of books I want more of #MSWL

This is also one thing I *LOVE* about CJ Cherryh's Foreigner series. #MSWL

#MSWL I would love a political fantasy or SF novel that pays as much attention to the symbolic meaning of clothing, gestures, and etiquette as the Queen of England does her brooches, and the plot hinges on this. The Goblin Emperor meets Ancillary Sword, I suppose?

I'd also love to see a new take on Beaches (you know, the Bette Midler-Barbara Hershey movie), which I just re-watched - I'm really all over this best friends thing #MSWL
