@petejknapp What does that mean? Books that take place in autumn? Or books that have autmn-esque themes?mostly it means I love this weather -- but definitely autumnal books, witchy books, books that feel either cozy or spooky all are on my #mswl!

Happy #feelgoodfriday! This story from the summer has been on my mind as next week is #mentalhealthawarenessweek. I loved seeing these kids take a stand for students’ #mentalhealth and making a positive change in Oregon #kidlit #MSWL

I’m always talking about wanting to see books that represent my culture, but the other day I went out to dinner w a friend and her daughter who also happens to be a type 1 diabetic. And I don’t see many books who represent this part of my identity. So my #MSWL would be a book where one of the characters have a chronic illness (like diabetes) but not where the plot is all about them having the illness. It’s just a character trait & sometimes you have to deal with it but mostly you just live & love & have GMC unrelated to it.

I also refute the YA is dead nonsense. It just needs some love #SCBWIchat twitter.com/guppybooks/sta…I so agree with this. It does need to be special. The market is super-competitive. But stand-out YA will find a home. Send me your YA love stories and unreliable narrators! :-) #scbwichat #mswl
