Last year, I made a plan to tweet monthly about what I’m looking for. Life got in the way shortly after that, and then I was closed to queries for awhile. Happily, I’m now open again and bringing my mid-month wishlist post back to life! (thread) #MSWL

#MSWL I would love a political fantasy or SF novel that pays as much attention to the symbolic meaning of clothing, gestures, and etiquette as the Queen of England does her brooches, and the plot hinges on this. The Goblin Emperor meets Ancillary Sword, I suppose?

I'd also love to see a new take on Beaches (you know, the Bette Midler-Barbara Hershey movie), which I just re-watched - I'm really all over this best friends thing #MSWL

If somebody wanted to write an Utena-style pseudo-contemporary diverse fantasy with sword-fighting, butch and femme queer girls, and colorful, floral imagery, and then have their agent sub it to me, I wouldn't be upset. I'm just sayin'. #MSWL

As always, I'm thirsty for a cocktail book. Every time I see a new deal for one I get a little sad. Cocktails with fun themes? For women? Stories about drinking? What's your twist? (see what I did there?) #MSWL

I want women's fiction with a strong romantic thread. Former romance authors maybe? #RWA19 #MSWL

I feel like I've been seeing so many dark books lately that I would like something lighter. Not chick lit light, but Other People's Houses or Crazy Rich Asians light. #mswl

I want books set in other countries that teach me about the culture, from more serious women's fiction #WF to fun fiction like Crazy Rich Asians. I LOVE learning about other worlds and cultures. #mswl

I just came across a YA book coming out that used Pan's Labyrinth as a comp. I LOVE that movie and Guillermo del Toro's work in general. Writers, if you use any of his films as comps and I am so in! Delightfully dark, beautiful visuals and fantastical! #MSWL
