I’m not going to lie, Historical Fiction is in desperate need of diversity and discussion on social justice and its association with how we tell history. It’s the most underdeveloped genre. This is a great thread and diverse historical fiction with relevant themes that interrogate the same questions we’re asking today are definitely on my #MSWL

More historicals set in non-western countries, please & thank you. Because the more non-western historicals there are, the more we normalize that history outside the west was as fascinating & complex. twitter.com/lillielainoff/…#MSWL this please, and with the added caveat that I'd be looking for these to be written by authors from these countries or with this heritage.

In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, Disney Animation and Pan-African entertainment company Kugali will team up to create an all-new, science fiction series coming to #DisneyPlus in 2022: Iwájú. Check out a first look at visual development art from the series. pic.twitter.com/9iuWFDr61T🤩 This looks amazing! Can’t wait to watch!
(And I’d love to work on some kids books with the same feel. #mswl)

Always hope, no matter how dark the story or journey is. I don’t do well with bitter, cynical endings—there HAS to be a light for the MC to reach for, in some capacity
