Heads up, writers and agents: @JollyFishPress and @fluxbooks are now OPEN TO SUBMISSIONS!!!
I'm so excited to dive in to your submissions and find my next favorite YA and MG! Here’s what’s on my #MSWL
If you think your story and I would be a great fit, check out the submission guidelines @fluxbooks and @jollyfishpress! Looking forward to reading your amazing stories! #mswl (7/7)
Across all genres/age groups, I love character-driven stories with deeply satisfying emotional arcs. Make me laugh. Make me cry. Make me want to throw my laptop across the room because I’m so invested in the characters that their exploits/bad decisions drive me wild! #mswl (6/7)
For MG, I’m looking for:
I’m especially interested in stories that tackle difficult topics in compassionate, thoughtful ways. Bonus for a strong voice! #mswl (5/7)
On that note, if you think your book would be banned in Texas, definitely submit, because you’re probably doing something right. #mswl (4/7)
YA stories that combine social commentary w/ a fresh premise + a killer voice are my sweet spot. Does your story have feminist, intersectional, post-colonial, or environmentally conscious themes? Does it challenge readers to look at the world in a new way? Submit! #mswl (3/7)
For YA, I’m pretty wide open in terms of genre:
high fantasy with a unique magic system
historical fiction about underrepresented experiences
Now that I’m mostly settled in, I’m eager to find my next favorite read. Here are the types of YA and MG stories I’m interested in acquiring for @fluxbooks and @jollyfishpress.
