i think all of us fall into the trap of expecting people to react within a certain fairly small range of possible ways to bad news. i know i can be limited by my ideas of what feels like a "normal" reaction + i love complex characters that challenge me to unlearn my biases. #mswl

#MSWL in all the contemporary YA (or MG) I read, I like to see boys being feminists and practicing healthy relationships and consent. ALWAYS queer-positive. I'd also love to see a #nonfiction proposal talking directly to boys about feminism and consent.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but: the male and female leads in your story don’t HAVE to fall in love. They can love each other deeply. Trust each other. Have an unbreakable bond. But not every straight male/female dynamic HAS to be a romantic/sexual one.
