If I've rejected something that matches my #MSWL, it's likely because of the execution of the project. I always base requests on writing quality.
If it has seen significant revision since rejection, I do allow re-query but indicate this in opening line of your query.

Most of all, MOST OF ALL, if you're worried your character is not the usual star of a sci-fi fantasy because of elements of diversity (color, religion, LGBTQ+, neurodiversity, disability) QUERY ME PLZ plz plz plz plz! #MSWL

And if you're feeling sorta "This character isn't typically the focus in sci-fi/fantasy (the King's chef; the ship Captain's errand boy), so it might not grab any attention..." QUERY ME PLZ #MSWL

And if you're like "I'm not 100% sure this sci-fi/fantasy works for the genre because it's more about the sibling/BFF relationship as they navigate the speculative world..." QUERY ME PLZ #MSWL

And if you're like "I've heard sex sells but really that didn't fit with my sci fi so I left it out, and the relationships are totally different than usual pairings in sci-fi or fantasy, so I'm not sure..." QUERY ME PLZ #MSWL

And if you're like "My sci fi is also maybe a little fantasy, bcuz it has weird fantasy creatures and relationships but is dependent on a structure of advanced science, so I dunno..." QUERY ME PLZ #MSWL

So if you're like "Well, I don't really have time travel in my book, but I make my characters question whether time exists at all as their relationships explode in fiery cataclysmic ways..." QUERY ME PLZ #MSWL

I also want to see unique, cinematic sci-fi that's heavy on the fi, light on the sci. And I like to see time, or other elements of life we accept as "reality" played with, too. #MSWL

If you're like "Okay, cool, but my fantasy TOTALLY TAKES PLACE INSIDE A VOLCANO and I had to work really hard to make it believable enough for readers to suspend disbelief and accept it..." QUERY ME PLZ #MSWL

If you're like "Well, I have an enchanted forest but it's super weird and wonky and the characters interact with it in wild ways I've never seen in a movie before..." QUERY ME PLZ #MSWL

I want to see wild, original fantasy. So if you're thinking, "Well, my manuscript isn't what ppl typically expect from fantasy... there are no elves or enchanted woods or elemental creatures, but really different fantasy elements..." QUERY ME PLZ

I love certain messages in PBs and am always seeking LGBTQ+ diverse & neurodiverse voices in PBs. But remember: story needs to be written for KIDS who read those books, not the parents/adults, in order for the message to be absorbed. Make it fun AND informative. #querytip #MSWL
