Just watched the second episode of The Passage and man, I would give anything for an MG with heroine like Amy. Or pretty much anything that could star @SaniyyaSidney. #MSWL youtube.com/watch?v=m--WB1…

At my daughter’s school it’s medieval day. Everyone else wore Disney princess dresses or homemade knight costumes.THIS KID marches to his own drum.

Kids who think like this will always be a #MSWL for me.

Meet Saga, an 8-year-old Swedish girl who went into a lake and pulled out an ancient viking sword and whom I will follow into battle anywhere, any time. ALL HAIL SAGA! motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/… pic.twitter.com/3x6uzcs667I will #MSWL this forever, especially for mg. Note: Looking for girl MC, as there are already so many stories of boys discovering swords and such (magical or not).

There’s a post circulating tumblr/Facebook asking why so many tween girls go through a witchy “let’s read fortunes and levitate” sleepover/jr. coven phase. I actually talked to an expert about this exact thing two years ago! medium.com/the-establishm…I would die for a YA/MG along these lines. #MSWL Real magic or just imagined, doesn't matter. I especially like stories that focus on girl friendships/sisterhood.

I studied journalism and will always have a soft spot for it -- I'd love a fascinating and teen-centric narrative journalism story like The 57 Bus, or a celebration of the power of the press like Spotlight #MSWLYes please. I worked for 2 years at a large metropolitan newspaper (as both a reporter and copy editor), so I'd love something with the feel and energy of the newsroom, but in a high school or jr high newspaper (since I only do kidlit). Fic or nonfic. #MSWL

Oh man, a YA along the lines of W or Goblin would be AMAZING. #MSWL twitter.com/sarahrmccabe/s…A YA historical fantasy would also be fantastic. Faith (aka The Good Doctor) is still one of my favorite kdramas. Secret Healer (aka Mirror of the Witch) is another that I love. Plus, I've been fascinated by the cdrama Tientsin Mystic. So much fun. #MSWL

So here's a new picture. I don't put my kids' pictures on the public internet, but with my daughter's approval -- this is part of her "burning anger" -- here she is, adding her slogan, #keepourcountrycolorful, to one of which she approves, not far south of the border. pic.twitter.com/aQLniu1USF#MSWL When I eventually reopen to queries, I want to see all the middle grade manuscripts about girls burning with anger at injustice in the world and how they’re fighting back, especially by and about POC and other marginalized groups.
