Hey, so if you're one of the (too many) laid off federal employees who also writes or illustrates books for kids, I'd love to hear from you. I'm always interested in nonfiction proposals for all age groups within kidlit, and science, math, and history will be even more important soon. #MSWL

I studied journalism and will always have a soft spot for it -- I'd love a fascinating and teen-centric narrative journalism story like The 57 Bus, or a celebration of the power of the press like Spotlight #MSWLYes please. I worked for 2 years at a large metropolitan newspaper (as both a reporter and copy editor), so I'd love something with the feel and energy of the newsroom, but in a high school or jr high newspaper (since I only do kidlit). Fic or nonfic. #MSWL

A couple of #MSWL before I head off to bed for the night: Always at the top of my list is children's nonfiction, MG and YA in particular.#MSWL Nonfiction--especially for kids--shouldn't be dry, boring recitation of facts. Make me WANT and even NEED to know what happens next.
