In crime fiction I'm still on the hunt for a great new regional British crime series. I love atmospheric, character driven, rich crime stories like Tana French. I love modern twists on classic detective fiction. I like locked room mysteries and cosy crime villages.

(I love queer fiction and queer stories, from all parts of the sexuality and gender spectra, including coming out and coming of age stories but also just LGBTQ people doing normal stuff people in books can do - solve crimes, fall in love, makes mistakes and find themselves)

I'm looking for dark, gritty or issues-driven contemporary fiction. I'm here for tricky family dynamics, generational divides, the nuances of modern relationships. I loved My Dark Vanessa, Normal People, Such A Fun Age.

Right now I'm looking for contemporary fiction (both commercial and upmarket), historical fiction and crime fiction. I'm really keen to hear from diverse voices - BIPOC writers, LGBT writers, regional writers, disabled writers, working class writers, writers without a degree.

I love novels that feature: therapy, cooking, stage magic, queer women, horoscopes and tarot, good dogs that don't die, holidays that go wrong. #mswl

I'm looking for regional crime, particularly set in Yorkshire, Scotland or Ireland, particularly with a female slant #mswl

Historical fiction that showcases diversity and tells the kind of historical stories we're not used to hearing, and the kind of historical figures we're not used to seeing #mswl

Darker, issue-led women's fiction, and books about difficult or challenging family dynamics that we might not have seen before #mswl

My #MSWL: love stories - high-concept love stories (maybe with a speculative twist?), fresh takes on millennial dating, big historical epic romances, romances in beautiful dream destinations...

(no wait, a few other key words: magicians, lesbians, cooking, child narrators, gymnastics, unrequited love, ambitious women, fat women)

In non-fiction, as always I'm looking for groundbreaking new ideas in personal growth and self-help, and beautiful voices.

In commercial women's fiction, I'm really looking for books for the 20-30 age bracket at the moment.

I see a lot of YA but I'm really keen for something that's beautifully-written, emotional and set in contemporary UK (please no fantasy!)

Book club novels with a secret to figure out at their centre - that partial reveal style that keeps you guessing, and turning the page.

I love upmarket women's fiction novels with sprawling casts of characters, like THE SECRET INTENSITY OF EVERY DAY LIFE.

Huge fan of domestic noir that gets under the skin - I've seen bad mothers by the bucketload but what about fathers and daughters?

I'd love a well-written procedural detective series (think Jackson Brodie or Dublin Murder Squad) with a well-thought out mystery!
