I'm not actively looking for new MG at this time, and I'm being selective with new YA but still very excited about the ones I get excited about. Send me your contemporaries & your very fresh-feeling fantasy in particular!

In YA, I want, as always, emotional and/or charming contemporary novels, particularly along the lines of FOOLISH HEARTS or THE LAST TRUE POETS OF THE SEA or ELIZA AND HER MONSTERS. Also always love a nerdy rom-com! #mswl

I am craving some gorgeously weird YA fantasy as well! Particularly something contemporary-ish. #mswl

I'm also really into YA stories that take a romance structure/trope and use it to construct a fantastic friendship story (a la FOOLISH HEARTS, an enemies-to-BFFs contemp). #mswl

In MG & YA, I'm focusing on high-concept contemporary that's sweet, funny, and layered, the kind of book that deals with a couple different kinds of relationship including the MC's feelings about themselves. #MSWL

So I guess my point is twofold: a) make sure you're signalling speculative elements right up front in your query, & b) send me more high-concept contemp!! #pubtip #mswl

The thing I want most right now is f/f contemporary YA that's funny, poignant, warm, & layered, a la Emma Mills. Esp. #ownvoices. #MSWL

#MSWL I'd like to see a contemporary-style YA in a fantasy world. Small stakes that feel huge, a focus on everyday life.

I've said this before, but I'd love a contemporary YA update of Louisa May Alcott's AN OLD-FASHIONED GIRL, full of humor & heart.. #mswl
