✨ 2025 HORROR #MSWL ✨ I’m really excited to find some new horror authors this year, so here are some specifics about my favorite kinds of horror, including my favorite tropes, books, movies, and shows, as well as some things I’m always looking for across all genres.

Psychological thrillers with new twists on my favorite classic tropes: unstable (or unhinged) narrators, missing memories or time, seemingly decent people with dark pasts, stalking, gaslighting in any form. As long as the twists don't distract from the story, I'm in! #MSWL

In rom coms, my favorite tropes are friends-to-lovers, fake dating, and second chance romance—though I'm open to other tropes! If you have a new twist on these classic tropes, I'd love to take a look. #MSWL

I love humorous essay collections—but am only considering collections if they have some sort of bigger picture social commentary tying the essays together. #MSWL

I'm looking for cozy mysteries with younger protagonists geared towards millennial audiences. I'd love to see a wider range of settings and premises for series, so if you have something that's unique (and written with millennials in mind), send it over! #MSWL

Nonfiction (especially self-help or cultural commentary) from qualified sources. I want books that help people discover issues they didn't know about or see a familiar problem in a new way. Fresh perspectives are not only welcomed but encouraged! #MSWL

Upmarket women's fiction that explores issues we tend to minimize or ignore as a society. #MSWL

I’d love to see more revenge stories (specifically in the thriller category). It could be a scorned lover, a group of friends avenging someone's death, a sister story, etc. If your character is in their villain era, send it my way! #MSWL

I've been loving horror that has a lighter writing style to contrast the darkness of the story itself. If you have humor in your horror, I'd love to take a look! #MSWL

If you’re a journalist with a story to tell, whether you’re exposing unjust systems in America or shining light on an unsolved crime, I want to bring attention to issues and people *not* always in the spotlight. #MSWL
