Some of my favorite (and least favorite) #tropes as a reader and a #literaryagent ! I’m most drawn to enemies-to-lovers, he falls first and harder dynamics, and slow burns, but struggle to enjoy age gaps, surprise pregnancies, and miscommunication in romances.

Here are some of my favorite dystopian novels, which may help you better understand my preferences in the genre! (or help you find your next read!)

Having spent my early teens devouring dystopian novels, the genre will always have my heart. I’m drawn to apocalyptic, Orwellian, cyberpunk, Huxleyan, post-apocalyptic, & steampunk stories + those exploring history, propaganda, romance/thriller elements, & with an Arcane vibe!

Horror of all kinds intrigues me, especially when it’s interweaved with a contemporary, fantasy, folklore, gothic, historical, horrormance, paranormal, psychological, or survival subgenre! I’m also drawn to stories that feature dread, sentient settings & descents into madness

In dark academia manuscripts, I look for atmospheric imagery and genre-blending elements in contemporary, gothic, historical, paranormal, or romantic subgenres. I also love when dark academia veers into magical libraries/museums, secret societies/cults, & mysterious friend groups!

I’m always a sucker for a good romance novel, so here are some things I look for in a romance manuscript. I especially love romance manuscripts with a contemporary, cozy, fantasy, gothic, historical, paranormal, sports, or romcom subgenre.

However, I believe in "never say never.” If you feel like your book doesn’t fit these marks or adventures outside of them, but still think we’d be a good fit, send it my way! And this list isn’t meant to be exhaustive either. It’s just a snapshot into what I’m most excited about.

I’m not the best fit for fiction meant for middle grade or children’s audiences, or non-fiction, sci-fi, graphic novels, magical realism, picture books, realistic fiction, or short story collections.
