Does anyone write MG or YA without dead parents? With alive, loving parents? With semi-functional families? Anyone? #MSWL

So jumping off last night’s tweet…my threshold for suffering is pretty low. I’d love to see less punishing stuff in my inbox. More escapist. Fanciful. Fantastical. Inventive. Romantic. Just loads less…death? MG/YA. #mswl

If I were to sign a YA right now, and it's tight, it would have to be really unique. As always...commercial, readable, inventive, aspirational, romantic and/or strong-relationship driven, "knows where it comes from but knows where it's going" type stuff. #mswl

For YA, same kind of deal. Strong voice. Strong concept/plot. Escapism, fantasy, sci-fi, speculative, magical realism—all awesome. Not crazy about depressing, issue-heavy books. No horror/thriller for me. #mswl #ya

Contemporary YA romances that feel MODERN. Hungry for any cute, swoony romances with great chemistry. Straight and LGBTQ. #MSWL

I always always love contemporaries (YA/MG) with splashes of extra (sci-fi, fantasy, etc). Just good, commercial hooks. #MSWL

Tip: I have more room on my list for MG than YA right now. Diverse, plot-driven, imaginative, high-concept, heartfelt. Hit me. #MSWL

I am also looking for non-fiction for MG/YA! Narrative NF, memoir, or just intriguing topics that kids can see themselves in. #MSWL

For MG/YA, I’m looking for high-concept or commercial-leaning fiction. Good plots and good twists. Not picky on genre (but NO horror). #MSWL

I really don't have enough magic or magical realism on my list right now. MG or YA. But I don't want witchy-magic. #MSWL

Consistent but not “voicey” voices. Kids who have to make hard choices; who act on not just react to the world around them. #mswl #ya #mg
