I enjoyed TSIAAS, but I kept being distracted by calculating their routes & travel times around NYC. “She could *maybe* get there in half an hour if she takes the B to the A & all the trains arrive just right...”FYI, if it’s legally possible, I would 100% publish an #ownvoices YA novel about a teenage girl or boy in the Motown star system. Signed, someone who read DREAMGIRL: MY LIFE AS A SUPREME in high school & *loved* it. #mswl

I found an exit out of Grand Central that I had never used before, & it got me two blocks closer to my destination than I expected. In this cold, that counts as a New York Win (tm). Also, surely there is a fantasy novel featuring Grand Central as a wild nexus of portals to magical worlds? If not, I would love for an author of color to write that & send it to me. #MSWL

Writers, agents: I would REALLY like a quality biographical #ownvoices picture-book MS about Bayard Rustin -- one that honors his integrity & complexity. Hook me up in 2019? #MSWL npr.org/2019/01/06/682…

We love Martin & Malcolm, of course. But what abt Marcus? There are virtually no mainstream pub'd children's books abt Marcus Garvey & the Back to Africa Movement & the Black Star Line. Why not? Malcolm's parents were Garveyites.I would LOVE a Marcus Garvey book for @LEEandLOW. #MSWL

Khutulun was the great-great-granddaughter of Genghis Khan. She was a strong fighter and insisted that any man who wished to marry her must defeat her in wrestling, but any man who she beat would have to give her a horse. She wound up with 10,000 horses. twitter.com/xnulz/status/9…Editor
