#MSWL These are the kinds of details that build a convincing, contemporary YA world. Teens are intertwined with digital communication, and they're secretive, which means they're going to figure this shit out on their own. So much to mine! Write it true. twitter.com/rachsyme/statu…When you're writing YA, consider how teens ACTUALLY communicate and use technology! Please! #MSWL

anyone who thinks YA is "unrealistically dramatic" needs to sit down following today's college admissions bribery adventureblair waldorf has NOTHING on aunt becky
NGL I'd LOVE a YA about a student finding out their parents did this to get them into an elite school and now the student has to reckon publicly and personally with their privilege, whiteness, and wealth + how these contributed to their own ignorance of their parents' plot. #MSWL

I've often said I'd LOVE a YA retelling of Much Ado, and I stand by that, but I'd love a feminist reclaiming of it, too. That's a #MSWL, by the way--YA graphic novel retelling of Much Ado about Nothing starring modern-day POC teens. What would such a retelling look like?I would EXTREMELY love this. #MSWL

Watched the US gymnastics championships tonight (SIMONE 😍), and it reminded me how much I want a MG or YA (hs or college) sports book. Gymnastics. Swimming. Volleyball. Track. Cheerleading. Etc. As long as it's voicey and character driven, send it my way! #MSWLOne of my favorite books as a preteen was Amber on the Line (by Emily Marshall, part of the Going for Gold series), and Amber was a young gymnast who struggled with balancing school and her team. I would love to see something like that! #MSWL
