Slush Thurman @Sam_ThurmanOk, so remember that scene in Liar Liar when Jim Carey asks to be excused from court to pee, and the judge asks why, and he struggles in pain, unable to lie, until screaming that holding your pee can cause incontinence? Thread:
#MSWL Give me this level of deep-dive on your speculative "found powers" premise. (Also Sam is hysterical and talented and you should follow him.)
Preeti Chhibber @runwithskizzersRecommendation request! Do people have go-to kid lit that represents South Indians? I'm excited about all the North Indian desi rep we're getting, but I'd like to expand it. Reply w/ any South Indian recs you have for Kid Lit (esp if South Indian American reps). Thx!
I live a few blocks from India Square in Jersey City, and would LOVE love love love love to see way more manuscript in my inbox about my neighbors and their cultures. #mswl
There's often a lot of bending over backwards in YA to create alternate worlds/societies that are led by teenagers/young adults. Why not pull from real life and give me a book about riding the rails/hobo culture? I'm fascinated. #MSWL
#MSWL: The photos that we have of space may have been taken recently, but the images they show are thousands of years old, thanks to how light travels. I'm not typically one for alien stories, but I'm curious about how this would affect that circumstance.
#MSWL: A near-future novel about the end of the open internet, and how a grassroots rebellion is communicated and grown BOTH analog/off the grid and by circumventing Big Brother online. Give me handwritten codes, brilliant strategy, and principled hackers, please!
Brandon @brandonlgtaylorHonestly, I just want to read a slim, elegant novel about museum gays who go to the Getty and maybe get involved in art forgery, but like, without all the brocade of Donna Tartt. Something lucid, like Claire Messud or Joan Didion. But gay. In museums.
