In Gothic fantasy: Really looking for something outside of the London aesthetic. Show me a Caribbean or Latinx Gothic

Thought I'd add a few specific notes about my #mswl after going through QM. Not really big on queens, monster slayers, concubines, and assassins. Give me shady shamans, sassy cartographers, magic gravediggers, salty artisans, grumpy baristas, and celestial grocery baggers (🧵)

I also have a soft spot for weird gothic stories like Sweeney Todd or Corpse Bride. Would love to find a spacegothic similar to the vibe of Vampire Hunter D (without vampires though)

In modern fantasy I'm looking for things like Jade City. Give me family shenanigans, politics, with really unique magic systems. Babel and Black Sun are always top on my list. Overall anything with colonizer bashing themes, non-western mythos, pirates, or dark academics

Since my ventures into MHA I'm curious to read about more unlikeable heroes or grumpy protagonists with the character development of Katsuki Bakugou. Also give me friends to enemies like JJK Gojo and Geto. I love blurred lines and moral grayness.

In sci-fi and horror think Love Death + Robot themes like Zima Blue, Ice, or Jibaro. I love a blend of culture, punkfuturism, anticolonialism, humor, and a pinch of weirdness.

Anything akin to #MDZS I'm all in for. Give me adventure, slow burns, mythology, dark lore, elevated magic systems, men with pretty hair
