If you’re a MG horror author who’s like “hm I think I’m gonna submit to that Savannah Brooks fellow, she seems cool” but don’t know what my ~spooky aesthetic~ is, I just finished reading THIRTEENS, and it nailed the location-based spooks I’m pining for. I want a spook town. #MSWL

Today is the perfect day to remind folks that I would love a picture book, fiction or nonfiction, that celebrates Eid (and all of Ramadan)! I love narrative, educational stories that invite lush illustration. #MSWL

Adult: I'm technically open to it, because who knows what I'll find, but it's a super hard sell. I'm only interested in #ownvoices projects that walk the line of being funny and lighthearted while still adding to a larger sociopolitical conversation.

YA: the MC needs to have a strange interest that teaches me something new. I don't do super heavy (sexual assault, addiction, abuse, suicide), and I like to laugh. Not a good fit for sad w/o humor. Quirky voice gets me every time. I love female friendship/empowerment and spooks.

For MG fiction, my interests fall heavily on the action-adventure scale, especially stories informed by non-western mythology and folklore. Loud and funny is a better fit than quiet and contemplative. In nonfiction, I love topics that kids—and I—can geek out about.

For PB, I want 1) content that looks seriously at sociopolitical realities that kids face, ultimately ending with empowerment and hope, 2) stories that teach readers about a new place and/or culture, 3) nonfiction that delights and inspires. Only interested in #ownvoices.

My actual ultimate #MSWL is a YA fictionalized story of Amanda Nunes and Nina Ansaroff—two female world class MMA fighters who meet and fall in love and become the sport’s #couplegoals.

All right, I’m putting my stake in the ground. I want your #own #poc YA protest meet-cutes. I want them all. #MSWL

Currently obsessively consuming JINXED by Amy McCulloch, and not that I didn’t know it before, but it’s reiterating just how badly I want a MG STEM with a super smart badass girl MC. Adorable robots are a plus. Please and thank you. #MSWL

On the subject of #MSWL, I’d love some MG horror with a creepy setting a la Sunnyvale or Derry, where the spooks happens because of where they are. Something with series potential.

I’m really itching for some MG manuscripts that take me on an adventure, especially #own ones about non-Western places and cultures. I love mythology and folklore and spooks and puzzles, and I’m a sucker for a snarky narrator. If this is your book, please send my way! #MSWL
