If you think it's "unrealistic" for YA books to not have romance in them because of the target audience as a WHOLE, you're basically throwing aromantic-spec readers into the ditches to cater to alloromantics. Which tells me you don't think allos can handle having no romance. My sophomore in HS kid loathes any romance in books/tv etc and as a YA AGENT it can still be hard to find books for her without romance elements. I welcome them in my subs whether it’s ACE rep or just didn’t call for romance! #mswl

What if I rented a huge, beautiful house on a private island and hosted a horror writing competition? Here’s the thing: I read this as HORSE and now I want it. Bring me your YA horror novels with a huge haunted wild horse on an island. Like a Misty of Chincoteague meets RL stine. #MSWL

- If your protagonist is the girl from TIED TOGETHER WITH A SMILE, I wanna see it.
- Miss Americana and The Heartbreak King because YA, duh.

- I KNEW YOU WERE TROUBLE vibes as a YA romance, but maybe with a HEA.
-THE LUCKY ONE. Not necessarily Hollywood fame, but chasing a dream and realizing you might not want it & flipping it on its head
-MINE. Just for a careless man’s careful daughter. #MSWL

I could do a whole #MSWL on this (MG or YA only please!) so here goes:
-Enchanted. Takes place in one night. Intense romance
- The last great American dynasty. Gimme the outsider protag who kinda relishes screwing up high society
- anything with ONLY THE YOUNG energy

So this is really specific, but if anyone has a project they'd pitch as Jurassic Park but in Space (MG or YA), I MUST HAVE IT. It'd be sweet if they're actually dinos, (WHY are their dinos in space? I don't know) but I'd take aliens or something else. #MSWL

I will also add there is a tendency when looking at YA fantasy to over-simplify with "This fairy tale/classic re-telling is overdone" but when you look at it, it's all white/western retellings. I am 100% open to retellings from new perspectives. #MSWL #AskECLA

Hey Literary Twitter, lend me your mind: tell me your favorite books that have centered houses and/or trains. Is there a book where a house is the narrator or the structural link? A book where a train is the literary star? Interpret however you wish. The wilder, the better.Oooh this made me realize I’ve never done an #MSWL for MG or YA with an unusual narrator!

#mswl bring me the YA novels with girls like the ones from Cop Car by Sam Hunt or What Was I Thinking by Dierks Bentley. The girls who don’t let a little trouble get in the way of a good time.

The high school I went to was found to have unsafe levels of toxic chemicals so they built a makeshift school in the Macy's in the town's abandoned mall, and I have never seen something more dystopian pic.twitter.com/wSsH4a68C1How fast can someone write me a YA novel with THIS as the high school. Bonus points if the kids take on the charge of getting attention/funding to fix their school. #MSWL

#mswl I don’t know why but I want a YA about that quiet girl who gets “A pleasure to have in class” from every teacher, literally titled A PLEASURE TO HAVE IN CLASS, where it opens with her seeing that report card and then descends into her setting (figurative) fire to everything

Just learned there’s an apartment complex in Seoul specifically for Korean-Americans adoptees to return & connect with their culture/identity and I NEED THIS as an #ownvoices YA novel. Would consider based on sample chapters & work with you to develop it. #MSWL
