I just received four queries in a row that didn't include any greeting. Guys, I cannot emphasize what a HUGE difference it makes to address agents by name. It takes two seconds, shows courtesy and professionalism, and proves that you didn't just BCC 500 people. #querytip

Me, reading a query that starts enticingly... until the author refers to their own work as a "masterpiece". #querytip There's a fine line between a hard sell and an unappealing ego reveal.

Don't start your query letter with "Your profile indicates that you are interested in..." I know what my profile says. Instead, let me know what elements you think I (specifically) will love! #querytip
