Novels in verse are generally more appropriate for @LEEandLOW in MG. For YA, that's us, as long as it's fiction. #MSWL

Some YA fantasy has been known to go over 100k, but generally we look for less than 90k because usually it's stronger shorter. #MSWL

Generally, middle grade books should be more than 40k words long. YA books should be more than 50k. Over 100k, you should question it. #MSWL

Please also note that we are not interested in anthropomorphic animal stories at this time. We seek *human* diversity. #MSWL

So if you're waiting to hear back on a novel, please be patient. I am still looking for novels, but not as urgently. #MSWL

I'm prioritizing graphic novel acquisitions for next little while, to fill out my fall 2018 season. We'll be publishing 1 GN a year. #MSWL

This is not to say that books abt mental illness can't/shouldn't be edgy. But too often old tropes are mistaken for "edgy" w/ MI. #MSWL

I appreciate that it's hard for *everyone* to get published. But please read the submission guidelines. #MSWL

White protags are great! And they're 90% of children's books. This is why our mission is so specialized. #MSWL

The list clearly doesn't include "white" for protagonists, but I still get many submissions w/ white protags. #MSWL

In our Submittable form, I clarify that we ask for the race/ethnicity of protagonists due to our mission to publish diverse books. #MSWL

One thing I should note: if I say I'm looking for XYZ kind of book and don't mention it should star a POC, it should still star a POC #MSWL
