The biggest mistake authors make in queries is not writing a strong blurb or pitch. The second biggest mistake is not writing a full query letter, but just tossing a two-line blurb our way. #querytip #askagent

@BookEndsJessica I have a question: How does this work for those writers who "fly into the mist", according to JoBev? They may have a snippet of an idea but no detailed outline. That's not their process.

It might not, but as the story takes shape you could write the query. Or, if you need to wait until the book is finished to write the query then seriously consider the query as part of the revision process instead of the final step. #querytip

A strong book, with a strong hook (or saleable element), will often write itself with lots of revisions and tweaking. #querytip

Writing a query for a book that still needs to be shaped and thought through will feel (and be) nearly impossible. #querytip

Writing the query, trying to concisely tell about the book you are writing, helps you see if you actually have a book worth writing. #querytip #amwriting

If you are struggling to make the query sound exciting, or hone in on the key points, maybe you need to rethink the book rather than just the query. #querytip
