Does Self-Publishing Ruin Your Chances at Traditional Publishing #askagent bookendsliterary.com/2018/08/08/doe…

I got a question about cozy mysteries that disappeared. So here's my answer: The market for cozies has gotten tighter, but also opened up a bit with more publishers building their lists. The trick is to understand the market & know hooks. #MSWL #askagent

@BookEndsJessica Is it okay to hunt for an literary agent after signing with a publisher? Will this help or hurt your chances at getting an agent? Thank you for all your help!

Replying to @MrBeardsly

It is okay. My advice though would be to use that publisher deal to find the best agent & allow the agent to negotiate the best deal. A deal won't hurt your chance of getting an agent #askagent

@BookEndsJessica @whitleyabell Ok, so no to rhetorical questions. But can you hint/tease as with this above sample. E.g dark secret bit, or would you need to explain the secret? Nb: sorry if I’m being thick! 🙈

The blurb is your cover copy so you never want to reveal the twist in the blurb. Leave that for the synopsis. To better shape your query blurb, spend time writing cover copy for your favorite books & compare to actual copy. #amquerying #askagent
