Olivia Leigh Blacke @o_livvvia

@debralynnlazar @BookEndsJessica I have the same question. Is it bad to have political posts? I try to keep mine to writing and weird life moments but politics seeps in.

Replying to @o_livvvia

It's funny. Years ago I did recommend keeping away from political posts. But the world has changed. I don't think it's a problem like it used to be, but I do think you need to balance with other things. #askagent

Hillora Lang @HilloraWriter

@BookEndsJessica @musingsbook @bookendslit I've been working on a guided journal, but I'm unclear on formatting it for submission. Any specifications?

Replying to @HilloraWriter

I think I would leave some space to show where the person should journal. You could probably give 5 or so prompt examples and then a list of other questions in list form. #askagent

Dan Whitesnow @dannywhitesnow

@BookEndsJessica I actually thought comp, is a comparison to the theme of another author's work with yours...

Replying to @dannywhitesnow

Well I think it can be that too. It is really how you want to comp it and that can be the difficulty. Some might see a comp and think theme while others will think voice. #askagent

Megan Lynch is drafting ✏️ @mlynchbooks

@BookEndsJessica #askagent do y'all bring books you're interested in representing to each other for review? If so, what are those meetings like?

Replying to @mlynchbooks

Every agency is different. Sometimes we do and sometimes we just offer. If we do ask for second reads on something they become very opinionated and we evaluate everything from characters to plot to ideas to fix things that might need fixing. #askagent

Leigh A. Hartman @barefoot4life85

@BookEndsJessica Question part 2: what exactly IS a blurb? Is it like a synopsis or is it more specific than that?

Replying to @barefoot4life85

a blurb is exactly the cover copy for your book. If you're looking at how to write blurbs (or queries) read Query Shark and the cover copy for your comps. #askagent
