Honestly, the number of submissions ELM gets saying they are exclusive, just to our submissions - we are CONSISTENTLY backlogged, & I mostly work from oldest to newest. Other agencies get behind too! It could be MONTHS wherein no eyes are on your ms & then they pass. #querytip

-each other a fair chance. But otherwise? SERVE YOUR WORK. Get it in front of as many people as possible! If no one sees your work? No one will represent your work! Or buy your work! #querytip

#pubtip for the AM... Agents and editors have SPECIFIC submission guidelines. Follow those. Do not try to find short cuts. Do not try do something different. This does not show your eagerness, but your lack of an ability to follow directions (or maybe read).

If it's really a problem and the book needs to be split in two or something, I'll recommend that. But I will never reject solely based on word count.
That said, it's pretty easy for me to tell on pg1 if those words are all used wisely. Make it sharp. #askagent #querytip
