I hear this. I think a lot of us who work in publishing were keen readers as children and have carried the assumption forward that middle-grade = in the vein of Philip Pullman! But I'm hearing more & more that the younger end of MG needs to be fleshed out and... 1/2twitter.com/StorySorcery/status/1774164372660588952
... we have to listen to those who work directly with kids today. (I think 'teen' is another problem area but that's another story!) I'd love to see more MG stories in my inbox in the 30-40k range with simpler prose - without skimping on the interest level. #MSWL 2/2
