I try not to talk about my own books, but one thing I'm proud of is writing about characters who are exploring their sexuality & gender identities. I think it's as important to show chars who are still questioning as it is to show chars who own their identities. Especially in YA.yes yes YES #mswl

I also would like to add that it's very frustrating when people expect girl main characters to be uber bosses and have it all figured out and again, the boys can be dark and brooding but super soft too. like i want girls who make dumb mistakes, are rash and bold and a mess.*whispers #mswl into the void*

Having your characters take off their shoes in the house, aka de-colonizing your writing: a thread 1/such a simple thought leading to such a profound truth about the tendency to write subconsciously for the white gaze—we need to shake it off to write our own truths and that includes making space for ourselves by subverting narrative tropes that don't include us. #mswl

i love how beautifully @NataliaSylv writes about the pain of migration + the fear of not being there until it's too late. i wasn't able to say goodbye to either of my grandmothers because of visa restrictions + i know i'm one of the lucky ones. catapult.co/stories/migrat… #MSWL

my first best friend was a dude and i was never in love with him and he was never in love with me! gasp! i am infusing this dynamic in my next WIP because 100% platonic m/f friendships are a thing i would love to see more of in YA 🙌🏻#mswl forever

Hi, I’m a chemistry prof who loves over-the-top makeup.I’m teaching spectroscopy today, so 🌈 seemed appropriate.
Colors are ordered by wavelength (λ). Longer λ was placed in the inner corner w/ λ decreasing (E ⬆️) towards outer corner.

honestly, i want to read books about unabashedly non-alpha males that rise to the occasion in high stakes situations and it being perfectly feasible, kind of like legally blonde but for soft dads with secret pockets for a machete in their baby carriers. #mswl

This is true: someday I wanna write a thriller like “Taken” where a Dad has to rescue his child, but the Dad DOESN’T have special spy skills. Like he has to watch YouTube videos to learn how to disarm someone and takes kickboxing classes at the YMCA and loves Arby’s.
