One thing I've found is agents often represent a broader range of genres than authors, even their own clients often know. #askagent

That'd be a discussion with your agent about the genre change and what you'd like to do with your career long-term. It might mean two agents (e.g. one for adult, one for children's) or it might mean you're not a great fit if you want to switch entirely #askagent

Ooooooh!!! That's totally different. A writers site for critique would certainly not be seen as having previously published the work. In fact I don't even see a need to tell an agent or editor. #askagent

someone who makes a habit of viciously attacking others or trolling others is not going to likely be someone whose career I want to manage #askagent primarily because it would feel like the author might be unmanageable

And how you portray your views would make a difference, as I imagine how I portray my views would make a difference to an author #askagent

I will not tolerate prejudice of any kind and if I see that on social media it would impact my decision to represent an author. #askagent

I don't agree politically with a lot of people in my life. If I love a book and think I can work with an author, political views shouldn't matter. #askagent

Critical. I ask for a synopsis every time I request material so you better have one ready before you even query. #askagent

Definitely racist comments would change my mind #askagent

I usually do, but I don't know that a social media site has made a difference in my decision to offer. #askagent. I suppose if an author is really negative I might change my mind.

That would depend on the site, the reach of the site, the purpose of the site and, ultimately, how the publisher feels about it. #askagent

Know the timeline by which they say they respond, give it a week beyond the timeline & simply email (or in the case of @bookendslit reply through Query Manager) & ask for a status update. #askagent
