Woodwrite @Woodwriteshop

@wordwiselit Is there a submission “season” or do agents submit to publishers year-round?
Replying to @Woodwriteshop

A small minority of pubs and agents only take subs at certain times. But for most, you can submit whenever. If anything, they might ignore your email until their hiatus is over. Always consult their guidelines first.

H.W. Johnston is writing a first draft @hwjohnston7

@annmrose What's does it mean in a rejection when you're told your "good but not amazing"?
Replying to @hwjohnston7

Without context perhaps it means that there are good ideas in there but they just need more fleshing out to make them stronger

Ellie L @RedPencilScript

@annmrose Do most agents read the sample portions of the writing or do they base most of their decision on the pitch, query letter, and synopsis?
Replying to @RedPencilScript

Every agent is different so I can’t respond for everyone, but I will say if you send me a project that is something I rep I do look at pages. If it’s an age group/genre I don’t rep than generally I won’t look.

Helen Coe (she/her/elle) @Helen_Coe

@annmrose I've previously submitted a rhyming PB to agents & sensed/got feedback that the rhyme was the issue. Should I resubmit now that I've reworked to non-rhyme? Or only if they specifically identified rhyme as the issue? Happy Ellipticalling :)
Replying to @Helen_Coe

Thank you!
I think if the book has been significantly reworked it can be resubmitted but do check agents’ websites about their feelings on this. It might also be helpful to include that info in the query too (how it has changed)

Jess L Freed @JessLFreed

@annmrose If a writer attends an in person pitching event, what all do they need? Printed copies of the query letter? Manuscript?
Replying to @JessLFreed

Just you!
You don’t need to bring anything. If you want a notecard or something for yourself that’s fine but you don’t need to give us anything.
