I know these aren’t super specific. My tastes are driven by voice and overall plot arc rather than by specific tropes or vibes. And voice, and the feel of a plot arc, are hard to describe at all, let alone in a post. So, if in doubt, take your shot!

4. Nonfiction! Most subjects, especially science (both pop sci and technical) and spirituality/New Age. You need a proposal and 2-3 chapters completed to query.

3. In adult novels: women’s, literary, historical, and book club fiction. Give me fresh premises, people being badass in real/believable settings, and anything that helps me see real life in a new way.

2. MG across all genres. If you’ve got something for readers ages 8-12, featuring characters 11-13, with an engaging storyline and language that’s accessible without talking down to kids, send it my way.
